The Unofficial Record.
American Mythology.
Photographs of the objects, landmarks, and legends that survive their creators.
The stories survived. The people didn't.
America has always been skilled at manufacturing legends. Some were musicians. Some were outlaws. Some were businesses, buildings, highways, or ideas. Long after their creators disappear, the artifacts remain.
American Mythology documents the physical remnants of those stories: roadside shrines, museums, memorials, storefronts, signs, and objects preserved somewhere between history and folklore. Rather than documenting events, the photographs focus on what survives them.
